Had a most interesting first experience last night. A friend came over with a bottle of absinthe and a box of sugar cubes, so we tapped into the “Green Fairy” also known as “La Fee Verte”. I have been reading about absinthe as part of my research for my book With Malicious Intent and learned that most of what I had ever heard about the drink was pure fallacy. Contrary to popular belief, it does not make you hallucinate and it is not addictive. It is however 138 proof!

Water is poured over a cube of sugar into the beverage which apparently brings out the herbal flavors of green anise, florence fennel and grand wormwood. I’m not a fan of licorice, but found the flavor to be pleasant and non offensive. There were no hallucinations.  Great artists in history such as Van Gogh, Picasso and Hemingway  have credited absinthe with liberating their minds. I’m not sure about the mind liberation, but I will say that I had an incredibly restful sleep and numerous vivid dreams!

Great photo session today at Sunset on the lake’s edge with Karen from Image Angels. Glenbrook is such a beautiful location, so peaceful. Annette from Annette’s beauty spectrum did a nice job on the make-up. I love the new colors that she tried. Both Karen and Annette are so easy to work with.  I would highly recommend them to any future bride!

Lovely event last night at Apres on Ski Run Blvd. Tahoe Cakes by Grace supplied several different types of delicious cakes that were paired with five varying types of wine. The evening was a big success and several more similar events are planned for the future. Grace’s champagne cake was out of this world!
