To hike at  Horseshoe Falls you can park at Twin Bridges on Highway 50. The first 3/4 mile of the hike is well marked and then you enter into desolation wilderness country. That’s where is becomes rather challenging blazing your own trail through the thick  woods and traversing over water  that is sometimes 10 feet across or much wider. If you can make it to the top, the view is definitely worth the effort.

There are so many magnificent hiking trails in Lake Tahoe, the possibilities are infinite. This is Horseshoe Falls off of highway 50 on Echo Summit.  One of the more picturesque places that I’ve hiked, it was non the less quite treacherous. Being so early in the season, there was still quite a bit of snow at the higher elevations. There were many spots where there was no visible trail and it required quite a bit of dexterity to cross the numerous logs laying across the rushing water. We ran out of trail entirely before making it all the way to the top of the falls. A definite must see, but hopefully summer will bring a better path through the woods.
